Why the New Year, New You challenge?
We all get in this rut and waste life minutes away on things we know we shouldn’t be doing. You think you save grace because you just come and workout at CrossFIt, spin class, or at the globo gym to make up for whatever bad habit you ate/drank.
Diet and exercise coincide with each other. It takes a lot to change that particular part of your lifestyle. Should I drink this 8th beer? Should I follow what Coach Mike is doing and have orange chicken to get that new PR? (YES, jk) Should I go out on Thursday night because I know when I do Friday’s METCON, I’ll probably burn that night away.
If you’ve asked yourself these questions or have done any of these, you’re probably not on the best track to get to the best version of yourself. Most of us fall into these categories and we need to push ourselves out of them or at least create a better understanding of what’s too much and what makes sense for your goals.
The New Year New You Challenge is what will get you there and here’s why!
1. You have a partner! To bug you, to help you, to remind you what your goals are.
2. You have guidance through others, if you’re competitive (which most crossfitters are) you get to compete with other members of the gym for top 3 prizes!
3. You create that drive for yourself. The motivation to get better, stronger, faster, and healthier!
Coming together as a community and challenging ourselves everyday ONLY makes each and everyone of us better. We need to continually push ourselves and why not start the New Year off right. Let’s do this all together!
Here’s how everything works.
Phase 1: Find a partner.
Phase 2: Schedule a time to get dunked on Tuesday January 9th. (you and your partner can totally go at separate times.)
Phase 3: Sign up for the open January 11th
Phase 4: Complete 3 Workouts (2 Metcons, 1 strength – More info to come)
Phase 5: Complete ALL OPEN WORKOUTS and LOG IN YOUR SCORES FOR EACH. (games.crossfit.com)
Phase 6: Burn Fat, Get Swole
Phase 7: Get dunked again
Phase 8: Workout again….
Phase 9: Results will be posted. The end result will go as follows:
A. Body Fat score will be the difference in loss (ie. Old BF: 18% New BF: 13% – Score is 5pt)
B. Lean Mass score will be the difference in gains (ie. Old LM: 155lbs New LM: 160 – Score is 5pts)
C. Both Metcons will be the difference in times (ie. Old Time: 3:10 New Time 2:55 – Score is 15pts)
D. Strength will be the difference in weight (ie. Old Lift: 300# New Lift 315# – Score is 15pts)
Phase 10: Celebratory alcoholic beverage or unhealthy food at the CFR 5 Year Anniversary Party (Choose one, don’t let yourself go. HELLO YOU JUST LOST ALL THAT WEIGHT!!!)
